Red Alert 3 - Why The Actors? EA's Kasavin, Ajami Explain

Red Alert 3 - Why The Actors? EA's Kasavin, Ajami Explain Red Alert 3 - Why The Actors? EA's Kasavin, Ajami Explain The next installment of Electronic Arts' Command & Conquer RTS franchise for PC and Xbox 360, Red Alert 3, is just about ready to roll, hitting North American retail at the end of this month.

Ahead of the title's release, preview trailers generated buzz and amusement over one of the game's most standout decisions -- to incorporate real actors like Tim Curry, J.K. Simmons, Jenny McCarthy and George Takei for hyperbolic cinematics.

In some ways, this is clearly an intentional nostalgic echo of earlier C&C games, which were some of the first to use high-quality filmed full-motion video in the 1990s.

But why do it in 2008? Gamasutra recently sat down with EA Los Angeles senior producer Amer Ajami and producer Greg Kasavin, who played "a little bit" of a role in the decisions and casting around the live-action cinematics.

"The casting for this game and for our previous game, C&C3, was kind of a collaborative effort between certain members of the development team as well as PR and marketing." says Ajami -- who explains that there was a "four-tiered filter" in place when evaluating whether or not actors fit the game.

Jenny McCarthy on Denis Leary's Autism Schmautism

We were waiting for this one! Jenny McCarthy has spoken out against Denis Leary and the comments he has made against autism.

Earlier this week, Leary angered autism activists by making a statement in his new book, saying the parents are just using the disorder to explain their academic “laziness.”

“Whoo! First of all, let me tell you, the autism community has received probably 10,000 emails [saying] ‘Go kill him!’ ‘Go yell at him,’” McCarthy told Access Hollywood.

“[But] it’s so hard to even get up enough juice in me or energy in me to even try to fight someone that is obviously stupid,” she added.

More evidence that John McCain has lost it, he snubbed uber babe, Jenny McCarthy

Actress/model JENNY MCCARTHY was left frustrated when she attempted to discuss autism issues with U.S. presidential candidate Senator JOHN MCCAIN - because his campaign manager decided the hot-button topic was too controversial.

MCCarthy, who is among those leading the charge to legislate vaccines she claims cause autism in children, was thrilled when Republican MCCain stated that he believed there was a connection between the thimerosal vaccine and autism.

She arranged for a meeting with the Senator and flew to speak to him about her own experiences - her son Evan has battled autism since he was born.

The actress hoped the meeting would prompt MCCain to make autism and the battle against it a leading issue in his election campaign.

But, at the last minute, he backed out of the May (08) meeting - after learning there's no hard medical evidence linking vaccines and autism.

MCCarthy says, "I literally flew to go see MCCain, his team agreed to it (meeting), I was prepped and then all of a sudden his campaign manager said, 'We're ahead in the polls and this is a very, very touchy subject. Let's not give this interview right now.'"

McCarthy
speaks out about Denis Leary’s controversial new book.

Does Jenny McCarthy have anything to say about Denis Leary’s new book, Why We Suck: A Feel-Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid, where he is said to have cracked jokes about people with autism?

Oh yeah, as Us Magazine reports that the actress spoke out to Access Hollywood on the issue, calling Leary, “Stupid.”

“Whoo! First of all, let me tell you, the autism community has received probably 10,000 emails [saying] Go kill him! Go yell at him.”

Surprisingly, according to McCarthy, it wouldn’t be worth it.

She continued, “[But] it’s so hard to even get up enough juice in me or energy in me to even try to fight someone that is obviously stupid.”

According to newspapers, in his new book, Leary refers to people diagnosed with autism, a brain development disorder impairing communications skills, as being stupid, lazy, or both.
